Newk's Eatery Case Study Preview

Newk’s Eatery is a leading next generation restaurant chain of fast casual with it’s culinary-driven menu prepared in Newk’s open kitchens. It was founded in 2004 in Oxford, Mississippi by father and son chefs, Don and Chris Newcomb. Today it operates and franchises over 100 stores in 15 different states with revenues of over $140 million.

Adam Karveller, Newk’s Vice President of Information Technology has been with the company for 9 years. He has implemented employee training, DKIM, SPF, as well as DMARC but the problem of successful spear phishing attacks continued to persist. Karveller needed a tool that would provide another layer of automated security on top of all the other policies, practices, and security measures we already had in place. He said, “…we needed a platform that could be trained to recognize false positives and identify fringe and borderline scams that traditionally aren’t detected by existing checks and security protocols.”

When Newk’s came across Graphus, the activation process was “quick, painless, and easy”. They were able to get up and running in no time. By leveraging the TrustGraph™, our patented AI technology, Graphus has detected and auto-quarantined several threats against Newk’s employees. According to Karveller, the “automated removal of threats without any human interaction whatsoever” is critical for their operations.

When asked if he would recommend Graphus, Karveller answered, “Yes…Graphus meets that need for an additional layer [of security], and requires a minimal investment in terms of time from your existing manpower to do so.”
